On November 6, 2018, at 6:48 a.m., deputies met with the complainant on a lease road at Hwy 349 and County Road 300.   The complainant stated two enclosed trailers were broken into by cutting the locks.   Several items were taken in the theft including an orange MQ generator, two Dewalt air compressors, and a black 2014 16-ft Lama utility trailer.   The total value of the theft is over $45,000.

STATUS: SOLVED

 **UPDATE**   On November 20th, the Midland Police Department's CSI Unit was able to forensically link Samuel Granado to the crime. The Directed Patrol Team located Mr. Granado later that day and took him to the Midland Police Department to be questioned, where he subsequently admitted to being the actor. He was arrested and charged with Burglary with Intent to Commit Assault, a First Degree Felony.  GREAT JOB MPD!! 

On Friday, November 9, 2018 MPD and EMS were called out to the Oaklawn Subdivision at 3:39 AM in regard to a home invasion.

Three victims, two adult females and one adult male were attacked in their home. Upon speaking with the victims, detectives learned that the suspect had entered the home, rifled through belongings, but did not take anything. Rather, he attacked the three residents with household objects. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Later that day, at approximately 6:00 PM, members of the public discovered discarded belongings containing blood at nearby Tumbleweed Park and reported them to MPD. Detectives believe the found items belong to the suspect. The objects include sunglasses, an H2S monitor, cell phone, and several pieces of paper from a ledger.

On October 10, 1987 at 1:18 a.m., officers responded to a business located in the 2200 block of Garden City Hwy in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Jose Omar Cruz 21 years old, with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. The victim was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital where he later died from his wounds. A second victim identified the shooter as “El Cato” who was later identified as Catarino Ureste Luna aka: “El Cato”. Law enforcement authorities have yet to locate this suspect and bring him to justice and closure for the family.

If you are the first person to call with information that leads to the arrest of Catarino Ureste Luna, it could be worth a $2,500 CASH REWARD if it leads to an arrest or case solved. You will remain anonymous because no caller ID is ever used.

On September 14th at 10:02 a.m. deputies responded to the 10000 block of County Road 1110 in reference to a black stolen trailer.   The complainant stated the trailer is used to haul trash for the business.   The trailer is 16-ft long with 8-ft expanded metal walls equipped with a scissor lift for dumping.   The trailer has a heart with an arrow cut out of the frame for the hydraulic hoses.

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers are asking for your assistance with an investigation into the discovery of unidentified human remains.   On August 1, 2013, the unidentified human remains were discovered near an oilfield location in Midland County approximately 10 miles south of Interstate 20 near FM 1213.  The remains were determined to be a female most likely being White or Hispanic, 14-21 years old at the time of death and 59 to 67 inches tall.   A DNA profile was developed and has been compared to several local missing persons as well as entered into the national database.   Homicide is suspected.

The first incident occurred on September 10, 2018 at 8:44 a.m. at the 4700 block of FM 307.  The complainant stated a Black 2013 cargo trailer was stolen from the location and on September 17, 2018 at 8:47 a.m. deputies responded to the same location where the complainant discovered their company electrical boom trucks had been broken into.  The suspects broke into the tool boxes and stole grounding chains along with assorted tools.   The suspect also cut the mechanical jumper wires from the trucks.   The total value in both cases is over $22,000.

Midland Crime Stoppers and the Midland Police Department needs your help identifying a suspect involved of a fatal Hit & Run accident.

On August 10th around 1:00 a.m. in the 12600 block of Hwy 191 a 2009-2014 model dark colored Ford F150 or possibly a Lincoln Mark LT was driving eastbound in the westbound lane of Hwy 191.  The suspect vehicle crossed the center median with a portion of his vehicle blocking the eastbound lane, when a motorcyclist traveling eastbound struck the truck while attempting to avoid a collision.   The driver of the truck exited his vehicle to check the damage, noticed the deceased motorcyclist, got back into the truck and left the scene eastbound.   

 

The suspect is described to be a heavy-set Hispanic male wearing a bright colored shirt and blue jeans.   The truck should have damage to the rear passenger side tire area.

MCSO still needs information to try to solve this case.   On May 19, 2018, deputies responded to a business burglary in the 13000 block of West Highway 80.  Upon arrival, deputies found the front glass door of the business broken.  An unknown number of cigarettes, chewing tobacco and bags of chips had been taken in the burglary.   The surveillance video shows two individuals who approach the store, break out the front glass door and go behind the counter and take the merchandise.

On July 19th, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office received two different complaints about cruelty to animals.  Deputies responded to the 3000 block of S County Road 1218 and the 4200 block of W County Road 114 where 13 dogs were found deceased.  Investigators later determined that strychnine was discovered in the animals.

Midland Crime Stoppers and the Midland Police Department need your help identifying a suspect in a Hit & Run.

 

On June 3rd in the parking lot of Wal-Mart South located in the 200 block of West I-20, a female bicyclist was hit by an older model red or maroon Ford Mustang who fled the scene.   The collision caused the bicyclist to be thrown off and the suspect continued to drag the bicycle through the parking lot until the bicycle was eventually separated.  The victim continues to suffer from serious injuries.

Midland Crime Stoppers and the Midland Police Department needs your help in locating two suspects involved in a Credit Card Abuse against an elderly person.

On Sunday June 10th, a female suspect used the elderly person’s card at Wal-Mart on the Southside of Midland. This suspect is described as a Hispanic Female 40-50 years old, Brown hair, approx. 140-160lbs, 5'2"-5'5") driving a red pickup with a large phone number on the tailgate.

On Monday June 11th the second female used the elderly person’s card at Wal-Mart on the Northside of Midland. This suspect is described as a Hispanic Female 30-40 years old, Blonde hair, approximately 160-180lbs, 5'4"-5'7" driving a white Chevrolet pickup with a large phone number on the tailgate. The Midland Police Department is asking for your help in locating these thieving gold diggers.

Midland Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of person(s) responsible for committing the following Theft in Midland County.

 

On June 21st at 2:25 p.m. deputies met with the complainant at an oilfield lease road on County Road 300.  The complainant stated a Rigid 920 Groover was placed in the bed of a company truck.  The crews left the area for a short time and when they returned, the Rigid Groover had been stolen.   The value of the item is over $12,000.

El 21 de Junio de 2018 a las 2:25 de la tarde, Los oficiales respondieron al arrendamiento de campo de petróleo localizado en la carretera 300 del condado de Midland.  El demandante dijo que un equipo de petróleo, Riggid Groover 920 fue colocado en la cama de una camioneta de la compañía.  Los empleados se retiraron del área por un corto tiempo y cuando regresaron, la maquinaria había sido robada.  El valor del artículo robado es de más de $12,000 mil dólares.

Midland Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of person(s) responsible for committing the following Theft in Midland County.

 

The theft occurred between June 19 and June 21, 2018. Deputies met with the complainant in the 4800 block of South County Road1210 in reference to three (3) trucks that were stolen from the company.  The trucks were driven to a lease road where the blowers were removed and then driven back to the business.  Each blower weighs in excess of 800 pounds, so more than one suspect was involved.   The total value of the blowers is over $32,000.
