8/22/2008 - Midland Police Department - Felony Theft

This week Midland Crime Stoppers and the Midland Police Department need your help in solving a Felony Theft.

With the current boom in our economy, the construction business is Midland is also booming and with this success comes an increase in construction site thefts.

On Thursday August 7th, a local contractor reported a tractor and Big Tex trailer stolen from a construction site located in the 2900 block of Caldera Blvd.  The tractor is described as a Yellow 2006 Warren Cat Skid Steer loader Model #236B with two buckets valued at $40,000.  Also stolen was a Black 2007 20-ft Big Tex utility trailer.  The trailer has two six thousand pound axles and was displaying license plates TX/71Z-GNG.  The trailer is valued at $8,000.  The trailer did have two spare skid tires for the skid steer valued at $800 each.  The total value of the equipment taken is $49,600.

8/15/2008 - Midland County Sheriff`s Office - Burglary of a Habitation

This week Midland Crime Stoppers and the Midland County Sheriff`s Office need your help in solving a Burglary of a Habitation.

On June 27th, the victims in this case left their residence in the 1700 block of West County Road 130 at about 7:15 a.m.  The residents returned home in the afternoon and realized someone had broken into their home.  Deputies discovered that the suspect or suspects had broken a window on the south side of the residence and entered the home.

Several items were taken from the residence including a Vizio 32 inch flat panel HD TV, a Suddenlink DVR Converter Box, a Toshiba Notebook Computer, A HP Desk Jet Printer, a comforter and bedding set, miscellaneous tools, a Canon Powershot Camera, an Orion 9 inch TV/DVD combo, more than 50 miscellaneous DVD`s, a .22 caliber pistol and a 1965 Midland High School Bulldog leather jacket.

8/8/2008 - Midland Police Department - Sexual Assault

This week Midland Crime Stoppers and the Midland Police Department need your help in solving a Sexual Assault.

Midland Police Detectives are working a sexual assault that occurred at the Ashton Way Apartments located at 2613 N. Midland Dr.  In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 19th, a black male described as 5`6 to 5`7 with a muscular build wearing a black ski mask and dark colored skin tight spandex style pants entered the victim`s apartment through a sliding glass door.  The suspect used physical force to get the victim to comply.  The suspect forced the victim to disrobe and then sexually assaulted her.

8/1/2008 - Midland County Sheriff`s Office - Unsolved Homicide

This week Midland Crime Stoppers and the Midland County Sheriff`s Office need your help in solving an Unsolved Homicide.

On February 8, 2004, Midland County Sheriff`s deputies were dispatched to the Knights of Columbus meeting hall located at 4601 F. M. 1788 reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival, a Hispanic male was found lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds.  The male was identified as Ivanhoe Urias and he was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital and passed away as a result of the gunshot wounds.

The entire altercation took place in the parking lot with many potential witnesses.  Many of these witnesses have been interviewed by investigators, but to date, none of them have given investigators anything solid to go on.

Ivanhoe`s life ended just a few months short of his 26th birthday and it has been several years since the tragic incident took place.  The fact that this crime has gone unsolved this long is unfortunate, but the time is now for those who know any information to tell their side of the story.  Help bring resolution to this terrible crime.  If you are the first person to call with information leading to the arrest of a suspect in this unsolved homicide, you will be eligible for a $2,500 cash reward.  So call Midland Crime Stoppers at 694-TIPS or 1-800-7-LOCKUP.  You may also submit a secure online tip.  You will remain anonymous and no caller ID is ever used.


7/18/2008 - Midland Police Department - Aggravated Robbery

This week Midland Crime Stoppers and the Midland Police Department need your help in solving an Aggravated Robbery.

In the early morning hours of Saturday July 12th, Midland Police responded to a Robbery call at the Northridge Court Apartments located at 3417 N. Midland Dr.   The victim reported that while walking to her apartment from the parking lot, she was talking to a friend on her cell phone.  When she reached her front door, a white male approximately 5`9 medium build dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask ran up the stairs and accosted the victim.  The suspect indicated that he had a gun by the threats he made to the victim.

The suspect took a beach bag that contained an undetermined amount of cash, make-up, shoes and a work outfit.  The suspect was last seen running towards the parking lot closest to the tennis courts.  The victim entered her apartment and discovered that it had been broken into also.  The burglar left behind DNA evidence and its unknown if both incidents are connected.
